Sales Description

Anubias nana ‘Petite’ is one of the smallest and most desirable Anubias varieties in the aquarium hobby, prized for its compact leaves, deep green coloration, and exceptional durability. This specimen is pre-attached to a 2.5" terracotta bowl, making it a ready-to-place aquascaping accent that instantly enhances any aquarium layout. Its natural ceramic base provides stability and prevents the plant from floating or being uprooted by active fish or shrimp.

Perfect for nano tanks and planted aquascapes, Anubias nana ‘Petite’ thrives in low light, requires very little maintenance, and grows slowly into a dense miniature clump. Its hardy nature makes it an excellent choice for beginners while its aesthetic appeal is highly valued among advanced aquascapers. Safe for shrimp, snails, and all tropical fish.

Care Guide

Anubias nana ‘Petite’ is an extremely low-demand plant that grows well in a wide range of water conditions. It prefers low to medium lighting, which helps prevent algae growth on its leaves. High light is not necessary and may even encourage algae if not balanced with CO₂ and good maintenance.

This plant is attached to the terracotta bowl by its rhizome, which should never be buried. Terracotta provides excellent anchoring and allows easy repositioning in the aquarium. Place it in the foreground, along hardscape, or in shaded areas beneath driftwood or larger plants.

Optimal water parameters include temperatures between 70–82°F (21–28°C), pH of 6.0–7.8, and soft to moderately hard water. It does not require CO₂ injection, though CO₂ can enhance growth slightly. Routine water changes keep its leaves clean and help prevent algae buildup.

Feeding is minimal — Anubias absorbs nutrients primarily from the water column, so occasional liquid fertilizer is beneficial. Because of its slow growth rate, it is more prone to algae if placed directly under intense light. Gentle flow helps keep the leaves clean and healthy.

Additional Notes

This plant is ideal for tanks with shrimp and nano fish, as its textured leaves and structure provide biofilm-grazing surfaces and safe resting spots. It is equally suitable for bettas, nano fish, and peaceful community species. Trimming is rarely needed; simply remove older leaves when they yellow naturally.
